From the same high quality and competitively priced manufacturer as the hugely popular Osprey 2 comes the new Metris.
It’s hard to beat the Osprey 2 in terms of performance and handling, but even so, the Metris features some new aerodynamic updates such as new wing and rudder planforms and an even thinner and more optimised set of wing airfoils.
With the same span of 3.8m, there are some major changes in construction and layout in keeping with some of the very latest and more expensive designs. The new Metris is no longer hollow moulded and is constructed from CNC cut Rohacell cores and best grade spread tow carbon. The reason for the move to solid core in all these latest designs is to enable thinner wings to be built at lighter weights whilst still maintaining enough torsional stiffness.
Of major interest is the new 4 piece wing and 2 piece fuselage configuration. This is a new feature of many of the latest and more expensive designs and really helps transportation and storage. The new Metris at 3.8m can breakdown and pack into the incredibly small size of 985mm x 285mm x 110mm.
There are now dozens of happy pilots flying Osprey 2’s all over the UK and the new Metris looks set to offer the same high performance, high quality and great value for money package that is so appealing.
